The Houston-Galveston Psychoanalytic Society will present our annual Ethics meeting Saturday, March 27, from 9:00 to 12:15. Dr. Rion Hart will lead the workshop "Thinking and Working Ethically". Dr. Hart will explore the history of ethical thought with particular application to psychotherapy.

This workshop has a twofold focus. The first is a critical look at the problems inherent in the current approach to professional ethics and their "enforcement" and how these might hinder rather than promote the highest ethical conduct. The second focus will be an exploration of the ethics upon which psychoanalysis and psychodynamic therapy are actually grounded, the similarity to those of Buddhism, and why mindfulness based treatment approaches are the sexy new paradigm. We hope you can join us for a stimulating and productive meeting.

Rion N. Hart, Ph.D.
Rion N. Hart, Ph.D. is a Psychologist and Psychoanalyst in practice in Houston who has served as Chair of The Committee on Ethics of the American Psychoanalytic Association since 2005. He is on the faculty of the Houston-Galveston Psychoanalytic Institute where he previously served as Chair of the Ethics Committee, and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, Baylor College of Medicine.

Upon completion, participants will be able to:
